The criteria for selection of EV charging locations and the charging technology have been described in Section 3.5. The site suitability analysis was conducted based on the area available, and vehicle density, the charging stations have been proposed. For battery swapping stations, a minimum of 15.125 m2 is required, while for EV charging stations, the minimum area requirement is 105 m2.
The site suitability analysis was conducted as described below.
Primary Road network and Bus routes under WBTC were analysed and routes with high frequency were shortlisted.
A circular boundary of 2 KM radius around the existing EV station was created.
In the vicinity of shortlisted routes and outside and inside the circular boundaries based of demand of EV Chargers, the available areas such as: open area and parking facilities near public parks, commercial spaces, metro stations, malls, residential buildings etc. were considered.
Mapping of 60 locations throughout the city were identified for setting up of EV Charging infrastructure for e-2W/e-3W/e-4W.
Land area available and its accessibility was surveyed.
Road connectivity and distance from mass transit hubs and amenities were also checked.
Provision of Electric Infrastructure such as transformer near these locations.
The average number of 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers parked during the day and their duration of parking was recorded. Also the traffic density and movement of vehicles for 60 locations were recorded from 40 locations.
Mapping of feasible locations were identified for installation of EV Chargers based on the e-2W/e-3W/e-4W traffic survey.
